You Require Your Subs to Have Insurance. Now You Can Earn When They Get It.

Florida general contractors and construction company owners: earn flat referral fees by referring your subcontractors to Bright Coast Insurance for workers' comp and general liability. Keep your jobs compliant and earn a flat fee for every sub you refer.

The Insurance Problems You're Dealing With on Every Job

Subs who show up without a valid certificate of insurance, putting your job on hold

Uninsured subs creating workers' comp exposure that ends up on your audit

Subs who can't get coverage because they're new or have a claims history

Your own workers' comp audit coming back higher because of uninsured sub payroll

GC liability exposure when a sub's employee gets hurt and the sub has no coverage

Why General Contractors Are the Most Powerful Referral Source in the Market

You control access to the job. When you require your subs to have workers' comp and GL, they have to get it — or they don't work. That means you have direct influence over dozens of insurance purchasing decisions every year. A warm introduction to Bright Coast turns that influence into a flat referral fee, gets your subs covered faster, and reduces your own audit exposure. It's the only referral program where you benefit twice: you get compliant subs and you get paid for the introduction.

Common Partner Questions

Can I receive a referral fee for sending my subs to an insurance agency?

Under Florida §626.112(8), an unlicensed person may receive a single flat fee for referring a prospective client to a licensed insurance agent, provided the fee is not contingent on the purchase of insurance. General contractors are not required to hold an insurance license to receive this type of referral fee. We recommend consulting your own counsel for guidance specific to your situation.

How quickly can you get a sub covered and issue a certificate?

For most trades, we can quote and bind workers' comp and GL same day or next business day. Certificates of insurance are typically issued within hours of binding. If you have a sub who needs coverage to start work tomorrow, call us directly.

What happens to my audit if I use uninsured subs?

When a workers' comp audit is conducted, the carrier reviews your payroll and your subcontractor payments. If a sub cannot provide a valid certificate of insurance showing they had workers' comp during the period they worked for you, their payroll is added to your audit base — and you pay workers' comp premium on it at your rates. For a GC, this can add tens of thousands of dollars to an audit demand. Requiring subs to carry their own coverage — and verifying it — is the only protection.

What trades do you cover for subcontractors?

We cover all major Florida contractor trades: roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general contracting, framing, drywall, painting, flooring, landscaping, concrete, masonry, and more. We have access to carriers that specialize in high-risk trades like roofing that other agencies struggle to place.

Can you help with my own workers' comp audit if it came back too high?

Yes. Workers' comp audit defense is one of our core services. We review the carrier's audit findings, identify misclassified employees, incorrectly excluded subcontractors, and wrong class codes — and dispute the findings on your behalf. Results vary, but disputed audits commonly result in reductions of 20–60% of the original demand.
